How to watch and follow United v ForestSkip to Main NavigationSkip to contentTuesday 31 January 2023 07:00Manchester United are back in action this week when we take on Nottingham Forest in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final on Wednesday (1 February). Erik ten Hag’s side hold the advantage, heading into the tie with a three-goal lead after beating Wednesday’s visitors 3-0 away from home last week. The Reds are one step away from a place in the final, where we would meet either Newcastle or Southampton. So, here is everything you need to know ahead of our crunch tie at Old Trafford…Highlights: Forest v United VideoHighlights: Forest v UnitedThe bitesize highlights from our Carabao Cup trip to Forest are certainly worth a few minutes of your time...
United coasted to a comfortable 0-3 win in the first leg at the City ground last week, thanks to goals from Wout Weghorst, Bruno Fernandes and a stunning solo effort from Marcus Rashford. With the Red Devils now having home advantage, a shock comeback for Steve Cooper's Forest looks improbable. The Tricky Trees have nevertheless had the advantage of a full week's worth of preparation for this tie, having not been involved in FA Cup action at the weekend. Forest will be more focused on keeping their heads above water and away from the relegation zone in the Premier League. Improvements in recent weeks, though, will doubtless bring them confidence heading into tonight's clash. Forest have only suffered two defeats in their last five EPL matches. One of those defeats was another 3-0 defeat to United back in December and, with Forest losing their last eight meetings against United, the odds of a famous turnaround occurring this evening would appear to be remote.
For our visitors, they will be without first-team loanee goalkeeper Dean Henderson who is injured – but regardless of fitness, he would not be permitted to play against us, his parent club. Newcomer Chris Wood is also unavailable for Steve Cooper’s side due to being cup-tied with former club Newcastle. Taiwo Awoniyi, Morgan Gibbs-White, Cheikhou Kouyate, Moussa Niakhate and Omar Richards are dealing with known injury issues, while Giulian Biancone is out for the season. WHAT HAPPENED IN THE FIRST LEG? Ten Hag’s side are in good stead, with a three-goal advantage heading into the second leg of our semi-final encounter with Forest. The in-form Rashford netted a wonderful solo goal in the opening six minutes before January recruit Wout Weghorst scored his first for the club just before half-time.
